MÜDEK
Introduction
The Engineering Education Programmes Accreditation and Evaluation Association (MÜDEK) is a non-governmental organisation that contributes to improving the quality of engineering education in Turkey by conducting accreditation, evaluation, and information activities for engineering education programmes in various disciplines.
MÜDEK was established in 2002 by the Council of Engineering Deans (MDK), comprising the deans of engineering faculties in Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, as an independent civil society platform known as the Engineering Evaluation Board, with the aim of developing and implementing a detailed programme for the evaluation of engineering undergraduate programmes within these faculties.
Purpose
MÜDEK's mission is to contribute to the improvement of engineering education quality in Turkey by conducting accreditation, evaluation, and information activities for engineering education programmes across various disciplines, thereby fostering the development of better-educated and more qualified engineers who can grasp current and emerging technologies, and ultimately advancing societal well-being.
National Recognition
MÜDEK's application submitted to the Higher Education Council on 31 October 2007 was reviewed and approved at the Council's General Assembly meeting held on 16 November 2007. In accordance with Article 7/e of the relevant regulation, MÜDEK was recognised as a national quality assurance organisation by the Higher Education Council, with a validity period of five years, and was granted the Quality Assessment Certificate within this scope. sectoral, and programme-specific quality assurance standards.
International Membership and Accreditation
MÜDEK has been a full member of the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE) since 17 November 2006. By the decision of the ENAEE Administrative Council on 21 January 2009, MÜDEK was authorised by ENAEE to award the EUR-ACE Label. MÜDEK has been a signatory to the Washington Accord of the International Engineering Alliance (IEA) since 15 June 2011.
