History
The Department of Bioengineering was established on 21/05/2009 and continues its undergraduate and graduate education and academical activities with a total of 13 academic staff, including 4 Professors, 1 Associate Professor, 3 Assistant Professor, 4 research assistants and 1 100/2000 doctoral scholarship holder. The number of students in our department is 313. In our department, it is aimed to provide our students with a level of education that will compete with other universities in the national and international arena by using all the possibilities of modern education. Graduates of our department are employed both in the public and private sectors.
Mission and Vision
Bioengineering is an engineering discipline that combines the principles of science and engineering sciences to understand and solve problems encountered in fields related to living life such as medicine, veterinary, food and environmental sciences. In addition to many basic and applied branches of engineering such as mass and heat transfer, kinetics, biocatalysis, biomechanics, separation and purification techniques, bioreactor design, surface science, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and polymer chemistry; genetics, molecular biology, protein chemistry, metabolism, cell physiology and biochemistry, cytology, bioelectricity, neurobiology, immunology, pharmacology, etc. and aims to produce original solutions to the problems of today's society in different dimensions and sectors.

Fırat University and the Faculty of Engineering, of which we are a part, have done important work in Turkey and the world and have achieved significant achievements in different scientific groups and categories:
Fırat University is one of the 12 Turkish universities among the top 1000 universities in the 2019 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) published by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy.
In the field of engineering, Fırat University was ranked 409th in the world and 5th in Turkey in the World's Best Universities Ranking 2019 by US News, a US-based information and news publisher.
Our Faculty of Engineering is ranked 726th in the world and 8th in Turkey in the 2019-2020 period, according to the URAP data of METU Informatics Institute.
According to the 2020-2021 data, it ranks 1200th in the world and 18th in Turkey, and according to the 2021-2022 data, it ranks 1147th in the world and 15th in Turkey.
According to the data announced for 2022-2023, our university ranked 13th among 208 universities in Turkey and 1034th among 3,000 universities evaluated worldwide.
The 2023 ranking in the Web of Science database included more than 1700 higher education institutions from more than 90 countries. Our university was ranked 6th in Turkey and 581st in the world in the field of engineering. Our Faculty, together with its academic staff and students, contributes to the awards and achievements with projects and researches.
